Correct response: What is (the People’s Republic of) China?

More information about Final Jeopardy:

The “one country, two systems” principle refers to the People’s Republic of China’s governance of Hong Kong and Macau and was formulated by Deng Xiaoping for the country’s 1982 constitution; the idea is to reiterate by the PRC that there be only one China, but still allow Hong Kong and Macau to retain their capitalist economic systems (with the rest of Mainland China using the Marxist-Leninist system adapted to Chinese socio-economic needs). It came to fruition with Hong Kong becoming part of China in 1997 and Macau in 1999.

Andy’s Thoughts:

Wheel Of Fortune March 17 2020 Winner

  • The trivia gods smiled upon Kris by the end; Kris was definitely the more aggressive Daily Double player, and it just goes to show that a sufficiently strong player can overcome a True Daily Double working against them—even in Double Jeopardy—and still win the game.
  • To that end, a sufficiently aggressive wager on Daily Double #3 would have ended up giving Sid the runaway that would have been very useful for him today.

Theme: Girlfriend Getaways

Mon 2-17-20 $77,060
On Jeopardy: $26,400
Cat and Lisa added one H and two A’s to the bonus puzzle. Once those three letters were revealed,
_ H E _ _ L U _ I _ N W A _ _ B V I _ U _.
The only mystery left was what was on the card and it turned out to be a brand new MINI Cooper for each of them. They won $21,600 in the main game and that added a combined value of $55,460 to their jackpot.

Tue 2-18-20 $41,400
On Jeopardy: $12,400
Naami & Temimah got three D’s and one O from the letters they chose, but they did not get the G. The problem was
_ H E _ _ H _ U _ H _ _ H E _ _ I _.
They couldn’t break free from that misconception so they couldn’t win the $45,000 on the card.

Wed 2-19-20 $63,550
On Jeopardy: $46,801
Laura & Beth got one C, one F and two O’s from their letters. Into the puzzle those letters went and
_ U _ _ F _ H E I _ M _ U _ H S
came the solution. Into their pockets went an additional $37,000 to top off the $26,550 they won in the main game. Great work, ladies!

Thu 2-20-20 $13,772
On Jeopardy: $25,601
Emily & Pauline put one F and four O’s into their bonus puzzle. Unfortunately, they didn’t pay enough attention to
_ H _ U S _ _ L _ _ _ _ R B O _ R _
or they wouldn’t have tried “rooms” for that last word! Pat was holding another uncollectible $37,000 card.

Fri 2-21-20 $22,850
On Jeopardy: $19,601
Erica & Kristy completely filled in the second word with two P’s and one O. They also added one G to the first and second words. With that category, this puzzle certainly required these players to
_ H _ N K _ U _ S _ D _ _ H _ B _ _
(pun intended, a little). Let’s face it. The category was misleading and that cost the ladies a pair of MINI Coopers.
